The advanced features of the RoG® Master & Speeder GPS kit for experienced hunters

Real-time Tracking and Optimized Mobile Application

Real-time tracking is one of the key features of the RoG® Master & Speeder GPS Kit. Whether you're an experienced hunter or a novice, this feature proves invaluable by allowing you to stay connected to your hunting dogs in real-time. The GPS collars in the kit update their position every 2.5 seconds in VHF mode and every 5 seconds in GSM mode, providing precise and real-time tracking. Whether you're using VHF (radio waves) or GSM (4G) mode, you can rely on real-time tracking to know exactly where your dogs are, making it much easier to retrieve them after the hunt!

Facilitating this real-time tracking, the RoG® Master & Speeder GPS Kit comes with an optimized mobile application, specifically designed for hunting. Developed by RoG®, this application offers a user-friendly, intuitive interface, and advanced features tailored to the needs of hunters. Unlike generic applications on the market, this application is exclusively designed for RoG® GPS collars. It allows you to view the position of your dogs on detailed maps, mark points of interest, and configure custom hunting zones.

The hunting-optimized mobile application also provides additional features to enhance your hunting experience. You can receive customized alerts based on your dogs' movements, monitor their speed and distance traveled, and even record hunting trails for later analysis. Last but not least, you can navigate the terrain directly with the compass, and listen to your dogs' sounds through the voice intercom. With this application, you have a powerful tool to effectively track and manage your hunting dogs remotely.

Advanced Features of RoG® Master Remote and Mobile Application

The RoG® Master remote offers a comprehensive range of features to meet the needs of experienced hunters. Firstly, it is equipped with a compass that facilitates VHF tracking. The compass indicates the direction of the selected dog, avoiding confusion with multiple arrows when there are several dogs in action. Additionally, it displays the distance between you and the GPS collar in meters or kilometers, as well as the orientation of the moving dog and its altitude. You can also check the battery level for each Speeder GPS collar connected to the hub. On the Master remote, you'll also find dog training with 3 levels, frequency adjustments, and sound recording control, providing essential tools to optimize your hunting sessions and ensure the safety and performance of your loyal companions.

The RoG® Hunting mobile application offers additional advanced features that complement the Master remote. With the application on your smartphone, you benefit from a more comfortable visibility with a larger, smoother, and brighter screen. The application provides Topo, IGN, and satellite maps, allowing you to view your position and that of your dogs on highly detailed maps. You can also record waypoints, check the route history for the last 15 days, set virtual fences, hunting zones, and customize your dogs' profiles. Moreover, the icing on the cake, you can locate your GPS hub in case of loss or distance, which happens more often than you might think! This premium hunting equipment has been specially designed to meet the requirements of experienced hunters.

It's important to note that adding a Topo map to the hub is not necessary because RoG® has chosen to reserve IGN and satellite maps for the mobile application. This decision ensures the maps remain free for all users and guarantees a competitive price for RoG®'s hunting dog GPS collars. If you prefer a practical alternative to the smartphone, the brand also offers the RoG® Watch Tracking 4G connected watch. This watch allows you to track your hunting dogs without clutter, displaying all the maps available on the mobile application. However, please note that the compass is reserved for the Master remote and is not available on the smartwatch. Additionally, besides tracking your dogs, the RoG® Watch Tracking 4G offers the opportunity to use all the usual features of a smartwatch, such as calls, messages, heart rate monitoring, and much more.

Subscription, Access to RoG® Hunting Application, and Training

The use of the mobile tracking application, as well as the Master remote, is a major advantage for users of the RoG® Master & Speeder GPS kit. One frequently asked question concerns the maps available in the application. In reality, you have the choice between IGN maps covering all of Europe and Google Maps, which provide a detailed typographic view along with satellite images for a better visualization of your hunting terrain.

Another common question is about the subscription fees for using the tracking application on the smartphone (optional GSM mode). Well, you'll be happy to know that the application is entirely free for all users of the RoG® Master & Speeder kit. Once you've downloaded the application on your smartphone, simply log in with your username and password to access all tracking and management features for GPS collars (up to 20 dogs simultaneously). As for the SIM card management (GSM mode only), only the annual multi-operator M2M SIM card subscription fee remains the responsibility of the customer (starting from 30 EUR incl. VAT).

Regarding the training function, it is available on all collars of the RoG® Master & Speeder kit. Whether you use the Speeder collar on a large hunting dog or the Speeder Mini collar on your dachshunds, you can utilize this feature. The collars, equipped with "contact point" electrodes for short or long hair, come with 3 distinct vibration durations and 3 levels of electrostatic stimulation intensity, allowing you to tailor training to the specific needs of each dog. This training function provides you with additional control during training or hunting sessions, enabling you to guide and correct your dogs' behaviors with precision and efficiency.

Important note, the training functions of the RoG® Speeder GPS collar are exclusively active in VHF mode (via the Master remote). This configuration has been chosen to ensure optimal reliability during training sessions. Indeed, the GSM training mode may have limitations, especially in case of temporary absence of the network where the signal could be transmitted with a slight delay upon reconnection to the GSM network. This situation could mislead the hunting dog, which is a problem avoided with the use of VHF mode. For demanding hunters looking for the best hunting equipment, this approach prioritizes safety and effectiveness during training.

Using the Application on Multiple Smartphones

The use of the tracking application on multiple smartphones is an important topic for hunters who want to share the tracking of their hunting dogs with other participants. An essential question concerns the possibility of sharing the tracking application with multiple users in GSM or VHF mode, similar to how some A-GSM GPS trackers allow.

The good news is that the RoG® Master & Speeder GPS kit offers this application sharing feature. The main account administrator has the option to add up to 20 participants to the whitelist of people authorized to track the hunting dogs. Thus, each participant can install the tracking application on their smartphone, create an account, and track the dogs whose GPS collar is connected to the main account. This allows for the sharing of tasks in retrieving the dogs at the end of the hunting session, which is extremely practical and efficient.

However, it is important to note that the RoG® kit operates from a Master unit that transmits information to the smartphone via Bluetooth (GSM and VHF modes). Therefore, each participant using the mobile application tracking must also have a RoG® Master unit at hand to track the pack. This means that at least one Master unit must be close to the participants' smartphones to ensure adequate connectivity.

As a result, sharing GPS between multiple applications without the use of a dedicated unit is not yet possible. That being said, the manufacturer is aware of this limitation and is actively working on finding a solution. RoG® is determined to provide a sharing feature via the telephone network, while maintaining reliable reception and optimal system performance.

In conclusion, the RoG® Master & Speeder GPS kit offers experienced hunters advanced features and a hunting-optimized mobile application. With its real-time tracking feature, hunters can monitor and retrieve their hunting dogs quickly over several kilometers, whether in VHF mode or GSM mode. The mobile application, specifically developed for hunting, provides detailed professional cartography and features tailored to the real needs of hunters. The 3-level training functions (available in VHF mode only), used with kindness, can be beneficial for dog training. Moreover, the use of the application on multiple smartphones is possible through the application sharing feature, provided there is a Master unit as a relay. By using the RoG® Master & Speeder GPS kit, hunters are guaranteed to enhance their hunting experience through precise and reliable tracking of their hunting dogs.
